Visual defects
(AMD) Age-related macular degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a disease that affects the central part of the retina, known as the macula.
This is the part of the eye that enables us to see with the greatest precision.
AMD is the leading cause of central vision loss in people over 50.

AMD
The symptoms
There are 2 types of AMD: the dry form, which is the most common and is characterized by slow progression, and the wet form, which affects blood vessels deep in the retina.
In the case of AMD, the person may present various symptoms, such as :
- Progressive loss of central vision
- Contrast reduction
- Distortion of images or straight lines
- Visual fatigue or headaches

Our solutions
AMD treatments
To date, there is only one treatment for AMD, which consists in injecting anti-VEGF to limit or destroy the formation of new blood vessels deep inside the retina.
In both cases, early detection and regular monitoring can limit the progression of the disease.
