Hyperopia

Hyperopia is a visual defect caused by an eye that is too short or too flat, forming an image of an object behind the retina.

Near vision becomes blurred, and in some cases, both near and far.
Often asymptomatic up to the age of 40, people with hyperopia can compensate for this visual problem by accommodating themselves to a greater or lesser extent.

  • Symptoms: blurred near vision, sometimes both near and far vision, visual fatigue and/or headaches.
  • Cause: hereditary (high incidence in children)

Laser eye treatment

Hyperopia surgery

In addition to wearing glasses or contact lenses, hyperopia can be corrected by refractive surgery.
Laser correction consists in curving the central part of the cornea so that the image can once again be formed on the retina (point of sharpness).

Astigmatism can be corrected at the same time.
The operation is performed under local anaesthetic and lasts just a few minutes.
The patient returns home the same day.

  • Fast (a few minutes), painless operation (local anaesthetic)
  • Depending on the technique chosen, visual recovery within 24 to 48 hours.
